about us

  1980’s ….our people + architecture + environmental concerns.

we believe that ‘our people’ are our best investment.

we share our profits with our associates.

there is great transparency in  financial matters.

lunch is on the house– literally we all wash up after that. our clients who join us occasionally do the same. sometimes it is nice to see a ceo or chairman cleaning up his own muck.

mistry holidays a bi–annual affair, is the time that we all let our hair down responsibility well everybody is given an opportunity to interact directly with clients, consultants and contractors.

transcending levels between the carpenter in the morning and the chairman client in the evening without either feeling superior or inferior is encouraged.

professional fees– an area neglected in colleges is introduced to staff at an early stage and one soon becomes comfortable to handle money with honesty and integrity.

we take special care to integrate the indoors and outdoor spaces.

1990’s…. our people + more architecture + larger ecological concerns.

-our investment in people continue. we take profit sharing further to include junior architects, quantity surveyors and all our technical staff.

-holidays now include spouse and children. travel agents now consult us if they want information on way out places. playing and having fun have become our second nature.  our concerns go beyond architecture and our own people. mistrys start peace, an organization that takes care of school fees for destitutes and poor children. calipers get fitted to children with polio.

-our architecture becomes holistic.

-conservation excites and moves us to integrate old and new-manipal, castle street be come projects to live and die for recycling, reuse, solar, biogas become concerns very often we work as entrepreneurs to make conservation an economically viable  proposition.

-slowly but surely our architecture becomes green.

-we continue to have very close interaction with our clients. this decade saw a lot of our clients coming back.

-ecological and environmental concerns become an integral part of our brief that gets added on to our clients requirements.

2000+…. mistry manifesto for the millennium.

-profit sharing to further include all staff-administrative and maintenance etc.-everybody.

-the three r’s of the last century namely reading, writing and arithmetic we add, reduce and recycle.

-we will have fun doing our architecture.

-make reasonable profits that we will share with our  people.

-we will never take more than what we give in this circle of life.

-environmental conscious design becomes a major interest of architects, designers, planners, public officials and industry leaders around the world. the earth summit draws attention.

-it becomes clear that an inherent ecology exists in all architecture, whether or not ecological sensitivity has been respected. the design and construction of architecture has a powerful and lasting effect on the balance of ecology and on the human condition. there is no doubt that the future of all architecture must integrate this attitude of stewardship. the quality of our lives depend on it and conversely creates the quality of our environment.
