sharukh
mistry graduated from the academy of architecture in 1974. he worked
with talati and shroff in bombay before being selected as the project
architect for the national iranian oil co., during the 4 years in iran
he worked on group housing, clubs and community projects. on his return
he and his wife renu launched " mistry architects" a sensitive
design practice.
besides several residential
bungalows and commercial interiors, sharukh has worked on sos children’s
villages, resorts, group housing, industrial buildings, the wipro
corporate office, etc., he is fellow of the indian institute of
architects and a member of the council of architecture. he is a
recipient of several awards – one being the jiia award of excellence
in architecture in the category of homes for the year 1999, the j.k
cements commendation award for 1999 in the residential category, and the jiia award for excellence in architecture in the category of residential
buildings for the year 2001. |
the firm
received the best practices award for 2000 conducted by the iia at a national level and stona‘99 award
for"innovative use of stone".
sharukh was a member of council iia -
karnataka chapter for 2 years. several of sharukh’s projects have been
featured in design magazines including awa – ‘award winning
architecture’- a journal. his works were featured in an
‘exhibition of works of young architects’, held in paris, france. he
has been on several juries both at the professional level and for
schools for architecture.

renu mistry |

renu mistry (nee pundarik) graduated from i.i.t. kharagphur. she was a brilliant student, winning a couple of design awards at nasa , the sarat memorial award and the suhasini devi memorial award. she was a nominee for the president's gold medal.
in 1980 renu & sharukh mistry launched " mistry architects," a sensitive architectural practice known for their use of natural material and ecologically conscious design. besides several residential bungalows and commercial interiors, renu mistry has worked on group housing, interesting conservation projects, several schools and community service projects.

she is the recipient of the iia - kitply award for conservation’99 for a re-architecture project at “no.42, castle street”, bangalore. for the same project she received
an honorary mention from iiid (commercial
interiors category) for the year 1999. she is the recipient of
the iiid 2000 award (hospitality category), jiia 2001 award
(innovative interiors category), and the a+d spectrum paints
2001, commendation award (innovative interiors category) for the
design of “the officers mess at aircraft systems & testing
establishment”, bangalore. she was adjudged “architect of
the year” in the j. k. cements aya – 2000 award (low cost
housing/landscaping/rehabilitation category) for the project “ganjam
mantapa”, bangalore. she is the recipient of the a+d spectrum
paints 2001, commendation award (habitat group housing category)
for the project “shantidam – a senior citizens community”
at bangalore. their firm has won the stona'99 award for "
innovative use of stone", and the best practices award for
2000 conducted by the iia at the national level.
several of renu's projects have been featured in design magazines. her works were exhibited amongst 30 women architects from india, south east asia & australia at the “women in architecture 2000 plus”, conference held in bombay feb 2000. last year renu & sharukh made a presentation of their works at a talk
organized by the centre of art & public life & the california college of arts & crafts for the bay area architects in san francisco. this year they were invited to deliver the “12th mavlankar memorial lecture”, by the iia nagpur
centre.
